Since the inception of the 17th edition of the league no away team had been able to defeat the hosts in their own backyard, however this record was put to rest as the mighty Knights vanquished the Royal Challengers’ at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium. KKR defeated RCB and that too quite emphatically and this incredible performance came on the back of flamboyant knocks from their openers Sunil Narine and Phil Salt who laid the strong foundation that helped Venkatesh Iyer to capitalize on it and lead KKR to a wonderful victory and finally breaking the losing streak of the teams playing away from home in IPL 2024.

RCB batters in the first innings put together a formidable total of 182 runs, with Virat Kohli playing an anchoring knock of 83 runs that helped RCB amass the massive total, but as it turned out RCB were perhaps 20 runs short of what would have been a good total to defend. RCB bowlers failed to provide the early breakthroughs that were expected of them, and KKR openers- Phil Salt and Sunil Narine went on to score a humongous 85 runs- the highest score in powerplay this season.

Though  Narine and  Salt fell  soon after the powerplay, it wasn’t enough to stop the KKR batters from chasing down the runs on the board, as Venkathesh Iyer came up with a stupendous half century off just 30 balls and sealed the game for the Knights.

Eventually, KKR became the first team of this season to win a match away from their home ground and certainly set the record straight.
