Overview:
The advent of Indian Premier League in our country brings with itself a wave of festivity that traverses across the length and breadth of the nation, and creates a sense of eccentricity amongst people from all walks of life. Many youngsters go on to the big stage and become overnight sensations with their animating performances, most of whom come from humble beginnings.
Privileged players in the league:
However, there are a handful of privileged players who have made their way to the reputed league. The list is not that long but does include the likes of Rohan Gavaskar and Arjun Tendulkar. I hope there is no need to clarify as to why they are on this list, but did you know that a person who was once a deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, represented the Delhi Daredevils from 2008-12 and has rightfully made it to this short list.
You guessed it right, Bihar’s ex-deputy Chief Minister- Tejaswi Yadav, was once a part of the IPL team from Delhi. Delhi Daredevils signed the son of of the veteran leader Lalu Yadav(Bihar’s ex-Chief Minister and one of the most popular political personalities in India) back in 2008. Tejaswi continued to be a part of Delhi’s squad till 2012, however he could never make it to the playing XI.
Only politician/minister who ever played in IPL:
This Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar once played in IPL for Delhi Daredevils
Tejaswi’s stint in IPL continues to be fascinating, as since his departure from the league, we have never heard of any prominent politician coming into the sporting event.
