Overview:
IPL 2024 is all set to begin on the 22nd of March with the opener being played between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and their southern neighbors- Royal Challengers Bangalore. But before the start of the 17th edition of the tournament let us glance at which teams have never changed their jersey in the history of IPL.
As it turns out there is only such IPL franchise that has been able to sustain their jersey over the years. Sure, there have been some minor modifications over time but, the overall look and feel that the jersey imprinted on the minds of the fans back in 2008 remains the same till today.
Chennai Super Kings:
Thala’s team stands out as the only franchise in IPL history that has been consistent in terms of their jersey since 2008. The famous Chennai jersey can be easily recognized by any cricket fanatic from a mile’s distance. The decision to stick to the same clothing pattern while all the other teams were dynamically revamping their jerseys has helped to create a unique brand identity and legacy for the ‘vintage’ IPL jersey.
The ferocious lion in the team’s logo and its watermark effect on the left abdominal part of the jersey truly portray the team’s on-field prowess and the never-say-die mindset with which the team sets foot on the ground.
MSD’s team holds many other records when it comes to consistency-
-
Only team in IPL history to have the same captain since the league’s inception in 2008
-
Only team in IPL history that has had the same head coach since 2009- STEPHEN FLEMING
-
One of the few teams that have never changed their official logo- the ferocious lion
-
Second most successful team in IPL history with the maximum number of final matches played by any team under their belt.
It is quite clear from the above facts that the words consistency and CSK can be used interchangeably Many analysts and fans believe that all this consistency and success that CSK has enjoyed during its time in the league stems from the nonchalance of their undisputed champion- Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The way Dhoni has been able to hold the team together and steer it through the hardest of times, especially the tumultuous years when the team was banned from the tournament for two years on the heinous charges of match-fixing is a true testament to the mettle and sportsmanship of this stalwart of modern day cricket.
Therefore as it turns out: CSK is the only IPL team that has never changed their jersey.
